Diode

Diode is a semiconductor component, which has two terminals (Legs) Anode + (A) and Cathode – (K). It is denoted by ‘D’ and ‘PD’

Type

1.Rectifier diode (Normal diode)

Uses: convert AC into DC. its come in number which print on diode surface

 Symbol and shape

2. Zener diode

Uses: voltage regulator and protection, it come in voltage rating like 2.6,3.6 v etc.

Symbol and shape

LED (Light emitting diode)

Uses: Indication and decoration

Symbol and shape

Laser diode

Uses: Receive electric current and convert into laser light/beam

Use in: CD/DVD Lens, Laser Printer, Bank Locker, Lift, laser Gun Etc.

Photo diode

Uses: Receive laser light/beam and convert into electric current

Use in: CD/DVD Lens, Laser Printer, Bank Locker, Lift, Etc.

Symbol and shape

Testing:  OK condition

Set multimeter on beep mode, and then check if multimeter show one side value, it means OK.

Faulty Condition: there are three condition of faulty.

Open: Nothing show value both side
